Service on the MBTA’s Red Line between Park Street and JFK/UMass stations resumed at 5:11 p.m. Wednesday after having been shut down for approximately 50 minutes due to Boston fire activity at Broadway, according to an MBTA update. The MBTA was expecting severe residual delays.
Smoke was detected in an electrical power system in the tunnel between South Station and Broadway, according to an MBTA spokesman.
The Orange Line had experienced severe delays Wednesday afternoon due to a medical emergency at North Station, according to a 3:34 p.m. update. Service had returned by 4:13 p.m.
