‘Large plows needed’: MassDOT makes public plea for help with snow removal

This doesn’t bode well.

State transportation officials are making a public plea for help with snow removal.

Drivers on I-495 may notice a sign on the side of the highway that reads, plaintively: “Large Plows Needed.’’

Reddit user mitch3910 posted a picture of the sign on Reddit, writing, “Seen on 495 this morning. This does not bode well.’’

The state Department of Transportation is using “message boards’’ to request large plows for central Massachusetts, MassDOT deputy press secretary Amanda Skahan explained in an e-mail.

“MassDOT has enough equipment on hand for the winter, and is reaching out to contract additional large plows to be used when needed in our snow and ice rotation and in the event of an emergency.’’

Let’s hope somebody pulls through, for the sake of our roads.
