Northeastern opens a new facility for its student veterans

Northeastern University has chosen Veterans Day to open a new center designed to assist students who have served in the nation’s military, The Boston Globe reported.

The Center for Advancement of Veterans and Servicemembers opens Wednesday and is described as a facility that allows student veterans to “benefit from the university’s experiential learning infrastructure through specialized co-op placements within a global network of 3,000 employers,’’ according to the Globe.

Andrew McCarty, a service veteran and an on-campus student veteran advocate, is the center’s director, the Globe reported.
