Initial confusion, concern over Christmas lights display featuring ‘ISIS’—and Santa

Police in Limerick, Maine recently responded to calls of concern about whether a Christmas lights display featuring the word “ISIS’’ in red lights might be the work of a terrorist sympathizer, according to the Portland Press-Herald.

Officers from the York County Sheriff’s office were reportedly relieved to discover that the lights were not a pro-terrorist gesture, but instead were meant to show Santa Claus peeing on the word ISIS.

York County Sheriff William King told the New York Daily News that the homeowner’s message would have been clearer if he had used yellow, not white, lights for the stream of urine coming from Santa.

“He doesn’t like what’s going on in the world, so he wanted to make his own little political statement,’’ King said.

Police said no laws were broken. However, the homeowner told police he’d make his message clearer, according to the Daily News.
