11-year-old boy falls off chairlift at New Hampshire ski resort

DANBURY, N.H. (AP) — An 11-year-old boy was taken to the hospital as a precaution after he fell 25 feet off a chairlift at a Merrimack County ski resort.

Officials say the victim’s fall occurred just before 3:30 p.m. Saturday as he was riding the lift at Ragged Mountain with his father and brother.

The family was about halfway up the mountain when the boy fell off onto the Danbury resort’s ‘‘Exhibition’’ slope. It wasn’t clear if the lift’s safety bar was down at the time of the accident.

Ski patrol from the mountain’s base and summit responded. The boy was transported to Franklin Hospital for observation despite having no apparent injuries.

General Manager Ryan Schramm says the victim was alert and responsive following the incident.

Ragged Mountain officials are investigating.
