Man struck, killed by commuter rail train in Melrose
A man was struck and killed by a commuter rail train Monday evening in Melrose, causing a service interruption on the Haverhill line, according to MBTA Transit Police.
The man was hit by a northbound train around 5:25 p.m. while trespassing on the tracks near Vinton Road, police said. A train scheduled to depart at 5:15 p.m. from North Station in Boston was canceled after it was delayed more than an hour, according to the MBTA.
Haverhill Update: Train 215 (5:15 pm from North Station) is now cancelled due to police activity in Melrose.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident — however, foul play is not suspected.
