Authorities have identified those killed in an apparent murder-suicide that happened Tuesday night in Peabody.
Elisete Benevides, 51, of Peabody and Gelcino Souza Oliveira, 50, of Beverly, were both found dead at Benevides’ home at 11 Winter Street.
Peabody Police responded to a 911 call from Benevides’ son-in-law at around 6:25 p.m., asking that police check on her. He was concerned after receiving a phone call from Benevides’ sister in Brazil, who was speaking with Benevides when she suddenly screamed and the call ended, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s office.
When police arrived, they found Benevides and Oliveira dead on the side porch. They both suffered from knife wounds.
Benevides and Oliveira had been dating, but Benevides ended the relationship in October, according to the DA’s office. Police said there were no restraining orders or previous reports of violence, the office said.
The DA’s office and Peabody police are investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide, DA spokeswoman Carrie Kimball-Monahan told Boston.com.
