Police release the name and description of a robbery suspect caught on video

Methuen police have released the name and description of the man they believe smashed a convenience store’s door with a cash register during an attempted robbery on Wednesday.

Police say it was 33-year-old Joshua Pittochelli who pulled a knife on the convenience store clerk while trying to rob the store. He then tried to pick up the cash register and tried to run out of a locked door. That’s when Pittochelli used the register to break the glass of the door and escape, police said.

Pittochelli will be charged with armed assault with the intent to rob and malicious destruction of property, according to police.

Officials say Pittochelli has a medium complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, stands 6-foot-five-inches tall, and weighs 210 pounds.

Police are asking anyone with information about Pettochelli’s whereabouts to call 978 983-8698.
