A suspect is in custody after police say he shot and killed a man outside City Limits bar in Randolph Wednesday morning.
Randolph police responded to the incident just before 1 a.m. Police arrested Gregory Wright, 36, of Randolph in connection with the shooting, according to the office of Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey. The victim was Drake Scott, 23, of Dedham.
Wright was arraigned in Quincy District Court on Wednesday, where he pleaded not guilty to the murder of Scott, according to Morrissey’s office. Wright was also charged with assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, possession with intent to distribute a class B substance (second offense), and carrying a firearm unlawfully.
Wright was held without bail. He will return to court March 16 for a probable cause hearing.
Wright’s attorney was not immediately available for comment.
“The District Attorney and Chief William Pace re-assured residents that while the shooting is obviously disturbing, it appears at this time to be a contained incident and that one party is already in custody,’’ said police in a statement. “There is not reason to believe there is ongoing danger to the public relative to this shooting.’’
