2 students in custody after stabbing of student at UNH

DURHAM, N.H. (AP) — Durham police say they have charged two University of New Hampshire students in connection with the stabbing of another student.

The Portsmouth Herald reports that Durham police were called to a Madbury Road address at 12:45 a.m. Saturday on reports of an assault with injuries.

Officers located a 20-year-old man with stab wounds. The victim was taken to Wentworth Douglass Hospital, where authorities say he was listed in stable condition.

Durham police arrested 20-year-old Matthew Gibbons and 21-year-old Eric Denning, both of Salem. Gibbons is charged with first-degree assault and is being held on $100,000 bail. Denning is charged with second-degree assault and criminal liability and is being held on $50,000 bail.

Both are scheduled to be arraigned Monday. It was not immediately known if they have lawyers.
