A Billerica woman turned herself in after she allegedly struck two teenage girls in a crosswalk Wednesday afternoon, according to Billerica police. The girls’ injuries are not considered life threatening, police said.
Emergency personnel responded to a call about a hit-and-run on Boston Road around 3:50 p.m., according to police. Police were told by witnesses that a dark gray Toyota Camry struck two 15-year-old girls before the driver fled the scene. The girls, both Billerica High School students, were taken to Lowell General Hospital for treatment.
Less than two hours later, the 35-year-old woman turned herself into police. She was charged with two counts of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident with personal injury and failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, according to police. She will be summonsed to Lowell District Court at a later date.
