1 person dead after canoe capsizes in Lancaster

One person died after a canoe carrying two people tipped over on Fort Pond in Lancaster early Sunday morning.

The Lancaster Fire Department said they responded to the scene just before 5:30 a.m.. One of the canoe’s occupants made it to safely to shore. Two boats began searching the area where it capsized.

Authorities said that as a requested dive team was arriving around 6:15 a.m., the boat crews found the body. State and local police are investigating the incident.
