The body recovered from the Charles River Tuesday evening by state police near the locks is believed to be that of Zachary Marr, according to the Suffolk District Attorney’s office. The 22-year-old was last seen in the early morning hours of February 13 outside the Bell in Hand Tavern near Faneuil Hall.
“Preliminary evidence does not immediately suggest violent trauma,’’ Jake Wark, a spokesman for the DA’s office, said in a statement.
However, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of his death, Wark said.
Last month, police dive teams searched for Marr, a native of the central Massachusetts town of Harvard, in the Charles River near the Museum of Science after obtaining a video that appeared to show him in the area. Several days of searches in the area turned up negative results.
Marr was in Boston to celebrate his birthday with cousins.
