Boston police motorcycle officer injured in motorcade accident

A Boston police officer was injured when his motorcycle was involved in an accident with another vehicle, according to a department spokeswoman.

It was originally thought the officer was part of a motorcade for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at the time of the accident, but the spokeswoman later corrected the statement, saying the officer was instead part of the motorcade for the Italian prime minister. The accident happened at about 10:30 a.m. in front of the Museum of Science, she said.

The officer was taken to an area hospital for treatment and has since been released, according to police.

A tweet from the U.S. Secret Service, posted approximately 30 minutes after the accident, wished a speedy recovery to Officer James Scopa.

The accident is under investigation, police said.
