15-year-old girl killed in Weymouth crash

Weymouth police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a 15-year-old girl late Saturday night.

Authorities identified the victim as Kate McCarthy of Weymouth on Sunday night.

Around 11 p.m. Saturday, police received reports of a crash on Union Street. A vehicle that had been traveling south on the street struck a telephone pole, other parked vehicles, and a tree, police said.

The collision ejected two of the vehicle’s four passengers, including McCarthy, according to police. All four were transported to South Shore Hospital, where McCarthy was pronounced dead, police said.

All four passengers were sophomores at Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree, the school said in a Sunday Facebook post.
