2 women accuse BU music professor of sexual harassment

Two women, one current and one a former student at Boston University, filed a lawsuit on Tuesday, alleging that a middle-aged music professor sexually harassed them and that administrators ignored their repeated warnings, The Boston Globe reports.

The suit, filed in Superior Court, accuses music professor and renowned horn player Eric Ruske of harassing two women in comments, texts, and emails. It was filed by Erin Shyr, a 21-year-old BU student, and Maria Currie, a 22-year-old at New England Conservatory.

According to the complaint, administrators at BU did not punish Ruske after the students reported these incidents, the Globe reports.

“The negligence and deliberate indifference of BU allowed Ruske … to sexually harass numerous young, female students, including Erin and Maria, over a period of many years,” the complaint says.

Ruske and BU did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
