An 8-year-old boy was seriously injured when a pickup truck struck him on Land Boulevard in Cambridge Tuesday night, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Around 10:20 p.m., a Ford F-150 truck allegedly hit the boy when he ran into the street unexpectedly. The boy, who was accompanied by an adult and two other young relatives ages 11 and 8, had run ahead of the adult and entered the street in an area without a crosswalk, police said.
The boy was taken to Mass. General Hospital with life-threatening injures, police said. The truck’s driver, a 53-year-old man, stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
State police are continuing to investigate the incident, but said a preliminary investigation has not found any indication that the driver was impaired or using his cell phone at the time of the crash.
