Flight traveling from Boston to Miami diverted due to disruptive passenger

An American Airlines flight that departed from Boston’s Logan International Airport to Miami on Wednesday afternoon was diverted to Charleston International Airport due to a “disruptive” passenger, according to a spokesperson for the airline.

In Charleston, South Carolina, the male passenger was removed from the plane, Charlene Gunnells, manager of corporate communication for the airport said.

“He’s being interviewed by law enforcement,” she told Boston.com.

Gunnells said the man has been transported to the Medical University of South Carolina for evaluation and the FBI is involved.

A spokesperson for American Airlines said the flight, number 1006, continued on to Miami after stopping in Charleston, landing at Miami International Airport at 6:54 p.m.
