Boston comedy legend Lenny Clarke will headline a benefit for the family of State Police Trooper Thomas Clardy, who was killed during a traffic stop on the Mass. Pike in March.

A Night of Comedy” will take place May 22 at 7 p.m. at The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts in Worcester. Money raised from ticket sales will go toward Clardy’s wife and six kids who range in age from four to 17.

Clardy, 44, was killed March 16 when a speeding vehicle crossed three travel lanes and struck the back of his cruiser during a traffic stop in Charlton. The crash sent the cruiser into another parked SUV and then off the side of the highway.

More than 1,000 law enforcement officials paid respects to Clardy at his wake. Friends, family, and coworkers remembered the fallen officer as a committed husband and father with a great sense of humor at his funeral.

The State Police Association of Massachusetts Benevolent Fund is hosting the benefit, which will feature several other Boston comics such as Tony V, Artie Januario, Christine Hurley, Frank Santorelli, Dave Russo, Johnny Pizzi and Graig Murphy.

Tickets cost $35, $40, and $70. Discounts are available to members of The Hanover Theatre and groups of 10 or more. Contact the box office at 877.571.SHOW (7469) for more information.
