DCF employee charged with endangering welfare of a child in road rage incident

An employee with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families is facing felony charges in New Hampshire after he allegedly brandished a handgun in the presence of a child during a road rage incident.

Marc Beaulieu, 49, of Fremont, New Hampshire, has been charged with reckless conduct and endangering the welfare of a child, according to Stratham police.

Police said the incident occurred during the afternoon of May 21, in an area of Portsmouth Avenue where the roadway merges from two lanes to one. A “minor accident” happened following Beaulieu waving the gun, according to police.

Beaulieu was arrested on May 29 and released on personal recognizance. His case returns to court July 12.

A spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, Andrea Grossman, said the incident is under investigation.

“The Department takes these matters seriously, is cooperating with law enforcement and has placed the individual in question on administrative leave pending an internal investigation,” she said in a statement.
