Plane flips over, lands upside down on New Hampshire lake
NEW DURHAM, N.H. (AP) — Officials say a float plane flipped over and landed upside down on Merrymeeting Lake in New Hampshire.
The Federal Aviation Administration says the Cessna C180 flipped over around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday in New Durham. The pilot, Mike Hoffman, was alone in the plane and wasn’t injured.
Authorities say Hoffman lost control of the plane during the landing. It went sideways and landed upside down in the lake, trapping Hoffman inside. He was able to release his seatbelt and escape.
The plane was towed to shore. Officials say there was no leakage from the aircraft.
The incident is under investigation.
