A driver crashed his SUV into a tractor-trailer after troopers used spike strips to try and stop the SUV in Auburn Wednesday morning, state police said.

At approximately 11:20 a.m., a trooper attempted to stop a Chevrolet Tahoe that was being driven erratically on Route 20, police said. The Tahoe’s operator refused to stop, and continued along Route 20 at approximately 25-30 mph, according to police.
Another trooper successfully deployed a Stinger tire deflation strip, after which the Tahoe collided with a tractor-trailer unit, police said.
The male driver of the SUV was taken UMass Medical Center in Worcester. There is no information yet on his injuries, police said. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
