Vehicle hit by bullet on I-495

A vehicle was hit by a bullet on Interstate 495 in the Milford area on Monday, state police said in a statement.

Around 5:24 p.m., troopers responded to the area for a report of a vehicle hit by a bullet while traveling.

The driver first thought his vehicle had been hit by a rock but discovered the projectile appeared to be a bullet after pulling off the interstate onto Route 126 in Bellingham and inspecting his vehicle, according to police.

Police said they responded to investigate and confirmed the vehicle had been hit by a bullet. State police searched the area along I-495 from Milford to Marlborough, including roadways and overpasses, but did not locate a suspect, according to the statement.

The incident remains under investigation.
