Officials: Woman pulled from burning apartment building dies

MANSFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A woman pulled from her burning apartment in Mansfield last week has died.

Police tell The Sun Chronicle that 62-year-old Gabrielle Foley died this week, six days after a fire swept through the apartment building.

Foley was flown to a hospital in Providence, Rhode Island in critical condition. Her condition was later upgraded to serious.

The Rhode Island Medical Examiner’s office alerted Mansfield police of her death.

Fire officials say improperly discarded smoking materials ignited the blaze.

The death remains under investigation.
