Fish and Game warns snowmobilers after multiple crashes

EPPING, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire Fish and Game officials are warning snowmobilers of dangerous conditions on trails after multiple crashes over the weekend.

Lt. Michael Eastman tells WMUR-TV his department has responded to four snowmobile accidents since Friday. They both happened along snowmobile trails and on ice.

The news station reports that crashes were reported in Hebron, Plymouth, Atkinson and Gilmanton. A man had to be rescued on Umbagog Lake on Saturday after his snowmobile crashed on snow-covered ice.

Eastman says weather is a factor. He says warm temperatures during the day and cold temperatures at night may create unsafe terrain along the trails.

Officials are asking snowmobilers to be careful on the ice and to stay off of it if it seems unsafe.
