Man seen on video trying to damage mosque captured
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — Police in Massachusetts have arrested a man caught on surveillance video violently kicking a glass panel on a door to a mosque.
Andrew Burke, of Shrewsbury, is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on charges including attempting to commit a crime and causing property damage for the purpose of intimidation.
Police say in the early morning hours Tuesday, surveillance cameras at the Worcester Islamic Center captured someone approaching the building, kicking at the glass and using a road sign to try and pry open the doors. The man is then seen leaving the scene.
Responding officers could not find the man. But police posted stills of the suspect on social media and were led to Burke by tips from the public.
It could not be determined if he has a lawyer.
