State police are investigating a reported sexual assault of a teenage girl Tuesday evening at Revere Beach, according to a statement.
The girl told police that she was approached by a young adult male while using an outdoor shower at the Shirley Avenue Bathhouse at approximately 7 p.m. The male attempted to start a conversation, and when she tried to leave, he grabbed her and sexually assaulted her, she said.
After she got away, the girl told an adult family member about the assault. The family member brought her to the state police barracks on the beach, where the incident was reported. The girl was then transported to a Boston hospital for examination.
In a second statement, police provided a more detailed description of the suspect and said he may have followed another young woman while on a bike that afternoon, attempting to speak with her.
Police have asked anyone with information to call 508-820-2121.
