Harvard senior dies suddenly, no foul play suspected

A Harvard senior has died suddenly, The Harvard Crimson reports.

Dean of Harvard College Rakesh Khurana wrote in an email to students Sunday evening that the “heartbreaking” loss of Alexander H. Patel was “sudden and unexpected,” according to the Crimson.

Patel, who studied philosophy and mathematics, had been a teaching fellow and worked in a computer science lab on campus. He was also a former Crimson News editor, covering Harvard Business School and working on the data analysis team.

On Sunday evening, approximately 50 students and administrators gathered to commemorate Patel’s life, according to the Crimson. Attendees shared stories about his friendliness and warmth, as well as praised his teaching skills.

No foul play is suspected and no additional information will be released, Middlesex District Attorney’s office spokeswoman Meghan Kelly wrote in an email.
