Authorities say a man in his 70s died Wednesday evening in Weston after a deer struck the windshield of his minivan, thrown into his vehicle after it was struck by another car.
The Middlesex District Attorney’s office said the preliminary investigation into the crash indicates that a sedan traveling southbound on Wellesley Street struck an adult male deer, which was then thrown into the path of a minivan in the northbound lane where it hit the vehicle’s windshield.
Weston police responded to the scene of the crash around 5:25 p.m., according to the DA’s office.
While the passengers in the first vehicle were not injured, the DA’s office said the driver of the second car, who has only been identified as a man in his 70s, was transported to Newton Wellesley Hospital where he later died of his injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the DA’s office, state, and Weston police.
