Male body found in Chelsea Creek

State Police recovered a body from Chelsea Creek, also known as Chelsea River, near the Meridian Street bridge on Sunday night, officials said.

The body was found on the side of the river closer to Marginal Street in Chelsea, and it appeared to be male upon initial inspection, said State Police spokesman David Procopio. State Police detectives in the Suffolk County district attorney’s office are investigating, he said.

A tugboat discovered the body around 6:15 p.m., Procopio said.
