A young woman who was sexually assaulted as she slept in her Boston University dorm confronted her attacker Tuesday in a packed courtroom, telling the former MIT basketball player that he “changed a 20-year-old girl from a student to a victim to a survivor.”

The woman, now 22, spoke directly to the assailant, Samson Donick, as he sat with his three lawyers in Suffolk Superior Court, moments after pleading guilty to indecent assault and battery, assault and battery, and breaking and entering in connection with the 2015 attack.

Donick was sentenced to five years’ probation under terms of a plea agreement reached only after the victim informed prosecutors she didn’t want to go forward with a trial, which had been slated to begin Thursday.
