Three cars engulfed by flames after five-car crash on I-93 in Boston

A five-car crash on Interstate 93 in Boston led three cars to be engulfed by flames on Sunday, according to State Police.

Officials said the cars were heading north when they crashed between exits 13 and 14 in Boston around 12 p.m.

Despite the scope of the crash, only one person — a 30-year-old man from Medford — had to be taken to the hospital after the incident, having received “very minor’’ injuries, according to Trooper Dustin Fitch. The occupants of all five cars escaped their vehicles before the flames began, he said.
