New Hampshire math teacher honored with presidential award

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire teacher is going to be presented by President Donald Trump with the nation’s highest honor given to teachers of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Stephanie Gleeson, a third-grade teacher in Moultonborough, has been selected to receive the Presidential Award. She will also receive a $10,000 prize from the National Science Foundation, which administers the prestigious award.

Gleeson was nominated by the New Hampshire Department of Education in 2016. She has taught first through fifth grade for 13 years.

She says the award is about being a teacher who finds ways to convey knowledge “in an inspiring and engaging way that commits all students to become life-long learners.”
