On a day that saw temperatures soar into the 90s , a Boston police sergeant made sure a black labrador retriever named Olive kept cool.
Sergeant Sam Silta was working a detail at Boston Children’s Hospital on Thursday when a family who was rushing their son to that hospital approached him. According to a statement from Boston police, the family “was in a panic’’ because they didn’t know what to do with Olive.
Silta, according to police, helped the family with parking and then offered to keep the dog with him for the duration of his detail. The department posted photos of Olive relaxing in the sergeant’s air-conditioned cruiser. According to a police statement, Silta also walked the dog around the campus during the family’s hospital visit.
