A crash in Huntington resulted in the death of a Montgomery woman on Wednesday night, according to a release from the Massachusetts State Police.
The vehicle, a 2000 Ford F250 pickup, was being driven by a 42-year-old Montgomery man southbound on Route 112 when — for reasons under investigation — he reportedly drove “off the north side of the roadway, over a guardrail and into the woods,” police said. The victim, 39-year-old Melinda Carriveau, was ejected from the vehicle, according to the release.
Troopers from the police barracks in Russell responded to the crash around 7:57 p.m. The driver, who was trapped in the pickup due to the crash, was transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with serious injuries, according to police. Carriveau was transported to Baystate Noble Hospital in Westfield, where she was pronounced dead as a result of her injuries.
