A 30-year-old Nantucket man was arrested last Thursday after allegedly taking an “upskirt” photo of a woman on Federal Street on the island, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Three women approached a trooper that day and told him that they had witnessed the incident, police said. They had photos and video of the suspect, which were shared with the local police department.

Later that evening, the trooper spotted the suspect waiting tables at a local restaurant, and, after an investigation, placed him under arrest, according to police.

The man’s identity has not been released. He was charged with committing illegal electronic surveillance or video of a nude or partially nude person and sent to a hospital for evaluation after making statements “suggesting he posed a threat to his own safety,” police said.
