BOSTON (AP) — It’s coming. It’s bad.
That’s what the Massachusetts Department of Transportation has displayed on several electronic highway signs in the Boston area ahead of the next phase of the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge replacement project.
The project is expected to cause major disruptions starting Thursday along Commonwealth Avenue, the Massachusetts Turnpike and other areas around the project site.
The blunt signs captured the attention of several drivers in the area, including one who sent a photo to The Boston Globe.
MassDOT spokesman Patrick Marvin tells the newspaper the message appeared on 20 signs throughout Boston.
He says drivers should avoid the local area due to construction and “make smart decisions” on routes and timing of travel.
Construction will last through Aug. 11.
