Man suffers head injury while sailing off Nantucket

The Coast Guard found a 49-year-old man who'd been struck by the boom on his sailboat.

BOSTON (AP) — Coast Guard officials rescued a man who injured his head while he was sailing off the coat of Nantucket.

The Coast Guard said a crew from Station Brant Point responded to a call Thursday afternoon and found the 49-year-old man, who had been struck by the boom on his sailboat.

The Coast Guard says the crew escorted the sailboat to safety and the man was taken to the hospital for further treatment. He was not identified.
