Police arrest Mass. mom accused of leaving child alone at casino

MILFORD, Mass. (AP) — Police have arrested a Massachusetts woman who they say left her 3-month-old daughter alone in a running car for more than an hour outside a Rhode Island casino.

The Providence Journal reports 26-year-old Halston Borglund was arrested Thursday evening on a warrant out of Milford, Massachusetts.

She was arrested Rhode Island a day earlier when her daughter was found in a parked vehicle around 10 a.m. at Twin River Casino. Borglund was supposed to turn herself into police Thursday but never did.

The woman told police she left the child for a few minutes while she went inside to get keys. However, casino security says she entered at 8:30 a.m.

Borglund faces a charge of cruelty or neglect of a child.

Her daughter is in state care. It wasn’t immediately clear if she has a lawyer.
