A fin whale washed up on Duxbury Beach Monday morning, causing officials to close part of the beach.

Experts believe the whale, estimated at about 55 feet long, died at least two or three days before it beached. Marine biologists were examining the whale Monday to learn more about its death, and officials asked the public to stay away from the area.
