Man killed in Hanson plane crash, brother in hospital

HANSON, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say a 34-year-old man has died after a small plane he was flying with his brother crashed near an airport south of Boston.

The Plymouth District Attorney’s Office said Saturday that Scott Landis died from injuries he sustained in the crash on Friday.

The prosecutors’ office says his passenger, 29-year-old Patrick Landis, remains hospitalized.

The brothers’ uncle, Donald Conway, told reporters that the men were planning to spread the ashes of their father who recently died.

An aerial photo of the scene showed the small yellow plane with its front severely damaged in a body of water.

The district attorney’s office said a man walking his dog found the partially submerged plane and called 911.

The crash remains under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and other agencies.
