Whitinsville man accused of burying dog alive

A Shih Tzu was reportedly buried alive, and a Whitinsville man is facing an animal cruelty charge.

Northbridge police say they received a call at 12:20 p.m. Sunday from a woman telling them a dog was buried alive, according to the police department.

Richard Piquard, 24, of Whitinsville, was arrested after an investigation.

Polie said the dog was brought to Tufts veterinary hospital in Grafton and was euthanized.

Piquard was released on $1,000 cash bail. He is expected to be arraigned in Uxbridge District Court on Tuesday.
