An 18-year-old from Chelsea was arrested Sunday after authorities say he indecently assaulted a woman walking in a hallway of the MBTA’s Downtown Crossing station.

Isaisa Plaza is charged with indecent assault and battery, according to MBTA Transit Police.

Officers responded to Downtown Crossing around 10 a.m. on Sunday to a report of an assault, police said. The victim told officers she was walking in the corridor from the Red Line to the Orange Line when she was indecently assaulted by a stranger who then fled toward the station’s Chauncy Street exit.

Police said the woman gave a description of her alleged attacker, and officers searching the area found Plaza, “who was positively identified as the offending male.” He was arrested and will be arraigned on the charge against him in Boston Municipal Court.
