A 19-year-old man was fatally shot in Dorchester early Thursday morning, according to police.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation — a gunshot detection system that uses sensors to locate gunfire incidents in real time — around 2:08 a.m. in the area of 12 Vinson St. and found the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, police said.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries, according to police.
Police are actively investigating the incident.
