A driver forgot to put their vehicle in “park” at a Northfield boat ramp, and, before they could stop it, it rolled into the Connecticut River.

Northfield police responded to the call on Thursday, according to a Facebook postBoth people were outside the vehicle when it took off.

“By the time the driver noticed the vehicle was rolling away, it was already too late,” police said.

A diver from the Northfield Fire Department was called to attach a tow strap to the vehicle, which appeared about half submerged in the river.

The vehicle was pulled from the river soon afterward with the help of a truck, police said.
