Fox bites 2 women within 12 hours in Scituate

"We are asking that residents in this area be aware of their surroundings (and) mindful of children and pets," police said.

Authorities are asking residents in Scituate to be mindful when outdoors after two women were attacked by a fox within a 12-hour span Thursday.

The two separate attacks were reported in the area of Tack Factory Pond Road and Old Oaken Bucket Road, officials wrote in a Facebook post.

Both victims were treated for bite wounds, officials said.

“Scituate Police Officers are working with Animal Control to locate the fox,” the post read. “We are asking that residents in this area be aware of their surroundings, mindful of children and pets, and to contact the Scituate Police Department by calling 781.545.1212 or 911 immediately with any possible sightings.”

A call to Scituate police from Boston.com was not immediately returned Friday morning.
