Man struck, killed by commuter rail train in Waltham

Police said the man was around 35 years old, but haven't publicly identified him yet.

A man around 35 years old was struck and killed by a Fitchburg Line commuter rail train in Waltham Tuesday morning, according to MBTA Transit Police.

Police said they responded to the scene near Massassoit Street around 8:45 a.m., and the man was pronounced dead due to his injuries.

Detectives are continuing to investigate what happened, but foul play isn’t suspected, according to police.

A number of Fitchburg Line trains were delayed or canceled as a result of the incident, the MBTA said on Twitter.

The T also began using busses to shuttle passengers.

Regular service resumed just after noon.
