Man, wielding knife, assaults mother in Sharon home with her children present, police say

"At this time there does not appear to be any nexus between the suspect and the victims other than the fact that the suspect’s car ran off the roadway, in the snow and struck a vehicle located at the end of the driveway."

A Hyde Park man with a knife broke into a Sharon home where he assaulted a mother as her children called police late Thursday night, according to authorities.

Ricardo Francis, 39, was subdued at gunpoint in an upstairs bedroom of the Billings Street home after police received multiple emergency calls from the residence, according to a statement from Sharon police.

A patrol officer responded to the scene moments after receiving the reports around 11:25 p.m., according to police. Some of the calls were made by the woman’s three, school-age children, who reported “a break-in, assaults, and (a) man with a knife inside the house,” authorities said.

The unidentified woman, who was allegedly assaulted by Francis, suffered nonlife-threatening injuries, officials said. The children were unharmed.

“At this time there does not appear to be any nexus between the suspect and the victims other than the fact that the suspect’s car ran off the roadway, in the snow and struck a vehicle located at the end of the driveway,” police said in the statement.

Francis faces charges of armed home invasion and multiple felony charges police did not specify. He was scheduled to be arrainged in Stoughton District Court Friday morning.
