The first two recreational marijuana shops in Massachusetts raked in $2,217,621.13 last week — between Tuesday, Nov. 20, and Sunday, Nov. 25 — according to data released Tuesday by the state Cannabis Control Commission.

Cultivate in Leicester and New England Treatment Access in Northampton first opened their doors to recreational sales last Tuesday, and both dispensaries were closed on Thanksgiving, so the data reflects five business days.

The strongest day for sales was Friday when gross sales topped off at just under $500,000.

For the week, customers bought a total of 56,380 products with an average of 3.4 per transaction. Customers spent nearly $40 per unit purchased, the data shows.
