No one was injured when a commuter rail train struck an unoccupied vehicle that had broken down on tracks in Lincoln Thursday night, police say.
Police received multiple 911 calls around 11:10 p.m. for the vehicle stuck on the tracks near South Great and Old Sudbury roads. A short time later, a train hit the vehicle, which was at the Old Sudbury Road crossing, according to police.
No one was in the vehicle at the time, but the Lincoln Fire Department went to the scene just in case, police said. Transit police and representatives from Keolis, which operates the commuter rail, responded as well.
The vehicle, destroyed by the impact, was removed from the tracks. Transit police are investigating, Lincoln police said.
